East Palo Alo man shot during dominoes match
Police say they have no suspects
East Palo Alto police are investigating a Sunday night shooting that left one man with multiple injuries. At 9:57 p.m., the city's Shot Spotter system detected three gunshots in the 2600 block of Fordham Street. Responding officers discovered a man suffering from bullet wounds to his abdomen and a leg.
According to initial reports, the victim and his brother were playing dominoes in a front yard when gunfire erupted. They both threw themselves on the ground. The wounded man then drove himself to his mother's house, where someone called 911, and he was taken to Stanford University Medical Center, Detective Ed Soares said. The victim was listed in stable condition on Monday.
It was unclear Monday whether the man was hit before or after falling off his chair, Soares said. The brothers told responding officers that they only heard gunfire and saw no suspects. Police have not obtained any other suspect information from witnesses or neighbors and are still looking into whether the shooting was gang-related, Soares said.
"There's really not much to go on right now," the detective said. "I'm waiting to interview (the victim). He's still sedated."
Anyone with additional information, or who may have witnessed the shooting, is asked to call Detective Ed Soares at 650- 853-3192, or the East Palo Alto Police Department anonymous tip line at 650-851-8477.
