Berke-Smith, Darling wed in Hawaii

Ishtar Diana Joy Berke-Smith and Luke Alan Darling were married April 29 in an intimate ceremony on the shores of LaniKai Beach in Kailua, Oahu.

Berke-Smith, of Santa Cruz, was born to Walter Smith and Jasmine Berke, who is now married to Scott Roseman. Berke-Smith graduated from Soquel High School, and is attending Hawaii Pacific University in Oahu. She is studying visual communications.

Darling, also of Santa Cruz, is the son of Bruce Darling and Kathy Athow, who is now married to William Athow of Grass Valley, Calif. A graduate of California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, Darling holds degrees in journalism and public relations. He is the director of patron services for the Carmel Bach Festival.

The couple honeymooned at the Kahala Resort Hotel in Hawaii. They will live in Carmel-by-the-Sea through the summer, and establish a permanent home in Santa Cruz in the fall.
